Formerly known as Carl's Cabin, The Seipel Hut offers access to excellent skiing on New York Mountain. Back at the hut, running water from a spring-fed cistern in the winter makes kitchen chores simpler.
The Seipel Hut is a small 6 person cabin located near Polar Star Inn. The cabin was built in 1993. It is located just below timberline at 11,040' on the west side of New York Mountain, in central Colorado. It offers access to excellent skiing on New York Mountain, which rises just above the hut. Right next door is the Polar Star Inn, it is booked separately but often used in conjunction with the Seipel Hut for larger parties needing additional capacity. There is running water from a spring-fed cistern (summer & winter) that makes kitchen work a snap and a sauna for relaxing, as well as a large firepit and a gas grill on the deck.
Please contribute a trip report to share your experience for those who visit after you! This not only helps fellow riders, but it also helps hutkeepers ensure that the huts remain in good operating condition.
