Sean is based in Bellingham, WA, but his love for the backcountry grew during his time at the University of Colorado. After a two-day avalanche awareness course and a table-sawed splitboard, Sean began exploring more of Colorado’s backcountry alongside a small community of his friends. From low-angled trees and powerline runs on Berthoud Pass to multi-day hut trips in the Holy Cross Wilderness, Sean has developed more and more interest in longer-duration backcountry travel in the Rockies, the North Cascades, and British Columbia.
Loren is based in Truckee, CA, working as a bike technician in the summer and a ski technician in the winter. His interest in overnight backcountry travel is rooted in conversations with other shop techs and his personal goals for backcountry riding. Through those interactions, Loren began research on the wide variety of backcountry huts prior to organizing his first trip. With numerous hut trips planned and executed over the years in states like Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and California, Loren’s enthusiasm for exploring has expanded to detailing all winter backcountry huts across North America.
